Corey Colmey Drum Studio/Coreyʼs Progressive Music Classes present first Student Recital @ the Arthouse Cafe.
Rome – 7 May 2010 – If you are a musician, or know somebody who is, then you probably have heard of Corey Colmey. When he isnʼt performing, Corey runs a private drum studio in his fatherʼs music shop, Garyʼs Music. He has been teaching there ever since heʼs moved back to Rome in 07. Before that, he traveled the world studying and performing with whom he considers to be, some of the greatest musicians alive.
In August of 09ʼ, Colmey opened the doors to his second business, Coreyʼs Progressive Music Classes. Classes are offered from beginning to advanced musicians, and are geared toward providing instrumentalists a funky environment to seriously learn what it takes to be successful in the music industry. Corey and staff have been offering perform- ing ensembles such as Rock Ensemble, Reggae/Folk/Acoustic Ensemble, African Drum- ming Ensemble, Songwriting, Audio Recording, Music Theory, Guitar Ensemble & more.
“Since Iʼve been back in Rome, Iʼve worked with several students of different disciplines, and it always comes down to one thing. Playing experience. Students need to play more in a real performing situation to truly understand what it is they are doing. Once you estab- lish that connection, they are hooked for life.”
Coreyʼs first student recital is scheduled for Sunday, June 6th at the Arthouse Cafe at Rome Art & Community Center. The recital will feature drum students enrolled in Coreyʼs private teaching studio, as well as some performing ensembles including the Rock En- semble and African Drumming Ensemble. This recital is free and open to the public. Re- freshments will be available for guests.
