Intro to Recording: Wednesday 6:30-7:30pm

Let's face it.  Musicians love to record their music.  But you need to understand the basics of how sound works, and how to capture it with a microphone and computer.  In this class, we will cover how to record your own audio and input it into your computer.  We will then discuss basic properties of recording,  mixing, effects, mastering, transferring to a CD, and conversion to other file formats such as mp3, wav, wma, and so on.

Also, we will plan an outside of class field trip to Castle Studios in New Hartford.  Students may also get the possibility to assist with a live recording session in a studio.

Price: $150 per 8 week session.  Class is 1.0 hours long and meets once a week.

Are you a musician with some ideas for your own original songs?

Do you want help with putting your ideas together?

Do you want to be in a class with other musicians who are in your same situation?

Would you like help forming a band to rehearse and perform your ideas?

Would you eventually like to go into a recording studio to record your music?

Well, this class is for you.  Think of it as a weekly Songwriter's group meeting where you bring your ideas, riffs, concepts and put them on the table for all to see and hear.  We will work as a class trying to put it all together, and make your ideas coherent.
