African Drumming (for kids): Tuesday 6:00-7:00pm

This class is designed with the beginner in mind, and focuses on the indigenous drumming styles of West Africa.  Concepts covered include basic djembe techniques including tone, bass, slap and muffle strokes, instruction on various rhythms of the Ewe people, ensemble playing, call and response, improvisation, the role of rhythms in African societies, and introduction to other percussive instruments including the bell, shaker, karimba.  Drums are provided for in class use.  Gary’s Music provides student discounted drums to those that are interested in owning their own drum.  Ages 6-18.

Price: $75.  Class is 1.0 hours long and meets once a week.
